Hecuba “Paradise”

For Hecuba’s “Paradise” album, we drew upon the Greek reference in the name, and the title “Paradise” suggested to us the ruins of the statue city of Pompeii. We combined these ideas and decided we needed broken statues of the two members of Hecuba, presented like Greek busts recovered from a ruin with only their heads remaining. So, we set about sculpting and breaking, and ended up with “Paradise.”
The photographs of these sculptures carried over into the web identity for the album, and the disappearing idea from Pompeii extended into the “Lost Hecuba” spread of their costumes floating in a green ocean in the album’s booklet.
