“That Summertime Sound” is a novel by Matthew Specktor. For the “Summertime Sound” site, we created a kind of concrete but abstract mood around the book’s characters and vibe. We extended the world of the novel into music, photographs and readings by people with rich voices such as Jeremy Irons and Morgan Freeman.
The idea behind the site was to begin with specific items or events in the novel, and conjure images and sounds that feel like a memory or a dream – that feel like constructing hazily concrete images in your mind as you read.
